WELCOME!

Hello! My name is Gabriel Mitchell and I am glad that you have landed on my page. If you are someone who is struggling with transitions in your life, addictions or strongly desire to incorporate your faith in therapy sessions, you have come to the right place. I am here to help you overcome whatever you are going through so that you can live a healthy and meaningful life.

WHY AM I A COUNSELOR? I LOVE PEOPLE.

It took me some time to find my calling as a counselor. I meandered through the realms of medical work, education and other jobs. However, I noticed that even though I enjoyed my work, what I loved most were the meaningful connections I was able to make by spending one on one time with patients, students and clients. I find true satisfaction and joy in being with people and helping them overcome their trials so that they can become the people that they were created to be.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When you come into sessions you will find that I am a friendly, approachable and real person who genuinely cares for you and your needs. I am someone who not only appreciates humor, but also sees the value of it in therapy as it can be very healing. I am also someone with whom you can quickly and easily build healthy relationship. Research has clearly demonstrated that therapy is only as good as the relationship that is fostered between the therapist and client. After six years of working as a therapist I have found this to be one of my strengths. Most importantly, as a fellow human, I am not perfect myself, and I find great comfort in the fact that we all enter the therapy room on equal footing.

WHAT ARE MY QUALIFICATIONS?

My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Colorado where I received a Bachelors in Psychology and a minor in sociology. My post graduate studies were completed at Denver Seminary (CACREP Accredited institution) where I graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I often get asked if I am a priest. No, I am not, but my faith is central to my identity as a counselor and as a person. I am licensed in the State of Colorado as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LAC (Licensed Addiction Counselor) and I am CISM certified (crisis response). I have over 6 years of experience as a therapist, including working with orphanages, youth development programs, homeless shelters, community mental health centers and churches. These jobs provided me the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people who were dealing with a diverse set of challenges. I am extremely grateful for my experience as these interactions have not only shaped who I am as a therapist but also as a person.

A Bit About Me

Being a therapist is an important part of who I am, but I view myself as more than my occupation. I am a hispanic male, a Christian, a husband and a lover of travel. In my free time I relax by taking photographs, making music or exercising. These activities greatly contribute to my overall wellbeing and help me live a healthier life. I also enjoy long walks on the beach, but who doesn’t?

MY GOAL

My goal is to utilize my experience, qualifications and personality to best help you get through this difficult season of your life. I will treat you as a fellow human who needs to be cared for, seen and supported. I utilize a person-centered approach which respects you as the expert of your own life and gives you control of what you want out of our time together. My job is to help point out the road signs you might have missed along the way and process what they mean to you. Together we will help you find deeper meaning and healing in your life.
